A NEIGHBORHOOD HEALING SPACE
While still completing her Masters in Acupuncture, Stephanie Maceiras interned as an acupuncturist at a community style acupuncture clinic at the Aids Clinic of Queens County (ACQC). She enjoyed this particular style of practice so much that upon obtaining her acupuncture license, she took on a position as acupuncturist at the Brooklyn Acupuncture Project in Park Slope - a sliding scale community-style acupuncture clinic. After spending a couple of months there, Stephanie decided it was time to bring a new model of affordable acupuncture into her own neighborhood.
The vision she brought home with her has become Tao Wellness Center, a space where acupuncture as well as other healing modalities are accessible to all members of her community. All of the services are offered in a safe, clean, professional and peaceful environment by practitioners that are well-trained, licensed, and insured. All of our clients can expect to receive respectful quality care. While there are flat rates for all of the services, the practitioners offer a sliding scale for most of their services for those who are in need.
This healing space currently serves up some home-style acupuncture, massage, and reiki.
---------
Stephanie Maceiras graduated from Fordham University with a BS in Psychology. Through her work counseling inner city youth and families, the connection between mind, body and spirit in healing became an apparent and undeniable truth. It was her desire to fully understand this connection and its applications in health and healing that began her search for a more holistic approach to the treatment of an individual.
She completed certification as a Holistic Health Counselor through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and credits this school for introducing her to Chinese Medicine via her studies of Chinese Dietary Therapy. After three years of intensive study and self-cultivation she received her MS from the Swedish Institute School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Her training focused on Classical Chinese Medicine which was implemented and taught under the guidance of Jeffrey C. Yuen, an 88th Generation Daoist Priest.
Stephanies dedication to community service projects, locally and abroad, are her way of putting into practice a philosophy of social responsibility and compassionate care. She has served as an acupuncturist in several local community clinics, and is continuing to organize free community acupuncture clinics abroad.
Stephanie is a Licensed Acupuncturist in the State of New York, a Certified Facial Rejuvenation Specialist, and Certified Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist. She is pleased to be able to offer her services to people with a wide range of health issues, and invites you to experience the unique approach to body, mind, and spirit offered by Classical Chinese Medicine.
Currently, Stephanie has a private practice specializing in Facial Rejuvenation in Union Square, Manhattan, operates a Sliding Scale Community Clinic in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, is a Founding member of Open Channels: A Neighborhood Acupuncture Project, and has both organized and completed two acupuncture outreach projects serving communities in Nicaragua and Bolivia.
