Joseph Mullen @ Alibi NYC Soho

Joseph Mullen - color director, educator, and editorial colorist at Alibi NYC Salon, has been a leading expert in hair color and hair straightening for nearly ten years. He is a specialist in the Balayage technique, Japanese straightening, and smoothing treatments. He began his career as a colorist at Bumble and Bumble. During his tenure as lead colorist Joseph began teaching apprentices and quickly became the head educator in the apprentice program.

With his experience training apprentices, Joseph steered his career more and more toward the educational aspect of the business. In 2005 Joseph co-developed the color workshop for Bumble and Bumble University. He organized class structure and wrote curriculum that was taught to network salons nationwide. He then became the Head of Education and developed and facilitated the teacher training program.

Joseph's interest in fashion and photography inspire his work as an editorial colorist. He continues to build his portfolio and his credits include fashion shows for Alexander McQueen, Yohji Yamamoto, Chanel in New York and Armani Prive, Christian Dior, Chanel, and Ellie Shuad in Paris.

Joseph's editorial work has recently graced the cover of WWD and Elle magazines and has been seen in many other high fashion magazines including Italian Vogue, Harpers Bazaar (photographed by Karl Lagerfeld), I-D and Numero. His TV credits include Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Make Me a Supermodel, and Shes Got the Look.
