Jie at Blondi's

I found Jie after stumbling upon lifebooker and reading her reviews. I was looking for a new hair colorist and I like most others am very cautious about who I let mess with my hair. While I've been in NYC for 8 years, I had yet to find a colorist in the city and would trek back to my hometown just to make a trip to the salon. Unfortunately my old colorist moved away so it was finally time to find a colorist in NYC. I wanted someone who was both reasonably priced and worthy of trusting with my hair. I found that 100% with Jie. She listened as I explained, somewhat cryptically, what I was looking for, and she completely understood what I wanted. Jie executed my vision masterfully and my hair looks AMAZING!!! I would definitely recommend her to anyone that asks, and I know that I will be back to see her in the future.

I love my new haircut! I had never been to Blondi's before and I was nervous cause this was a new experience and I wasn't sure how well it would go. I am pretty indecisive with my hair. I know what I don't want but I am not sure what I really want. Anyway Jie helped me figure that out. We spent awhile talking about my likes and dislikes and decided to go with a cut that was different but wasn't too drastic. Well it is awesome, I totally love it. I have gotten so many compliments.

I had never been to Blondi's and wasn't sure what to expect. Jie spend a while talking to me about the color I wanted. She was honest about the choice of color I wanted. She didn't think the light color would blend well with my old color. I took her word for and decided to let her do a different shade. (Light but just a few shades darker than I thought I wanted). Well it turned out amazing. I love the color its actually a perfect shade especially for the summer. Thanks Jie!

I made the regrettable decision to save a few dollars and stray from my usual lifebooker colorist (Dont know if I can mention her, so i wont. If you find her, you'll just know!!) Judging from the past reviews, I wonder if people really know what excellent highlights look like, unless I caught her on a bad day. I wish lifebooker allowed photos to be uploaded.. because this hair? ended up a mess. I stressed - and we definitely agreed - to create highlights that look as natural as possible. The highlights look like blonde stripes. Then I saw the back of my head. I look like a blonde and brassy leopard. There are legitimate blobs on the crown of my head. Then she insisted I get a gloss. "Will it make my hair darker?" "No," she insisted. "As long as my hair stays the same color," I said. "It will. It will only make it shiny." Turns out I paid $30 extra to take the nice color of my hair (the pre-highlighted parts) and turn it to a gray-ashy color, while the highlights didn't seem to pick up the "gloss" at all and looked very brassy. In the end, I went home, threw on a box of natural instincts blonde and now it looks semi-natural. Go figure. The salon staff are friendly and Jie is very easy to talk to (this explains the star). The salon looks a bit dirty. The robe I had was not clean and the towels were bleach-stained. I will never stray from you again, regular colorist! I promise!! .... Hopefully you will have a better experience.

This was the best highlighting experience I've had since moving to the city nearly two years ago. Jie was friendly, polite and fun. And more than that, she got my hair color exactly right. So right, in fact, that when I went to work the next day, my coworkers couldn't tell I'd had the color touched up. It looks perfectly natural. I plan to make Jie my go-to colorist from here on out.

I've been going to Jie for several months now to get highlights touched up every other month. She did an amazing job the first time - especially taking the time to talk with me about the precise shade that would work with my skin tone, eye color, and the typical style I wear my hair. Her idea turned into a great color for me - exactly what I wanted: very natural looking and yet distinctive.

Jie knew exactly how to cut my hair perfectly. I just moved here from CA so I was nervous going to a new person. She gave me the most perfect cut I've ever had!!!
