Jeanne Atkin, M.S., L.Ac. earned her masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. She is a licensed acupuncturist and board certified Chinese herbalist. She was first introduced to Chinese medicine while living in Italy, by an Italian doctor and practicing acupuncturist. The relief she found in Traditional Chinese Medicine altered her life course. Post-graduate studies include work in Chinese orthopedic massage, Qi Gong rehabilitative exercises, and die da (hit fall) medicine for traumatic injuries at the Zheng Gu Tui Na Chinese Medical Massage center in New York City. She has studied directly under and assisted Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners Frank Butler and Tom Bisio in their NYC clinics. She is certified in acupuncture as a complimentary treatment for cancer patients from the Integrative Medicine Service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. She firmly believes the best medicine happens when East meets West. Chinese medical philosophy is rooted in a hands-on creative practice. It requires a creative mind coupled with the technical and diagnostic acumen of the scientist. It is about knowing the human body, the human mind, then applying the proper techniques and appropriate remedies, creatively tailored to each persons unique self. Jeanne practices this kind of full-spectrum Chinese medicine, incorporating acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Tui Na (orthopedic massage), Qi Gong rehabilitative exercises and dietary therapy into each treatment. It is a holistic approach, designed for the total person, beyond their particular symptoms.
