Just had the most amazing hair transformation! I had had a really horrible single process nightmare which turned the top half of my hair orange/brassy because of some terrible advice from a hairstylist at Medulla. I waited a few weeks to get it fixed so my hair wouldn't be too damaged but couldn't take it anymore and decided to book with Aaron Emanuel because it's in my neighborhood and seemed to get fantastic reviews. Prices didn't seem too bad either. I received a call the morning of my appointment (I only booked it late the night before so them accommodating me was awesome to begin with) and the receptionist, Anna, asked if I had a stylist request. In all my Lifebooker days I have never had the salon ask me what my stylist preference was! They usually stick you with a Jr. stylist or a senior stylist of their choice. I asked for Joanne because I had seen some reviews about her on Yelp and luckily she was available for me. From the moment I walked in I was greeted with positivity, my coat was taken and drinks were offered. Joanne was ready for me so there was no wait time. I as actually 10 mins late and when I called to let them know Anna was super sweet about it and so was Joanne when I arrived apologizing profusely. I explained what happened and what look I wanted to achieve. She spent the next THREE HOURS taking her time to give me all the best possible low-lights, highlights, toners, and Moroccan treatments that would fix my hair. There was no rushing and she made me feel very comfortable because I felt terrible I was taking up so much of her time when really the appt is only supposed to be 2 hours. She even trimmed up my ends after giving me a superb blowout. Before I even left the chair other stylists and patrons were coming up to tell me how gorgeous my hair looked. She seriously is a miracle worker. She didn't pressure me into buying any products or talk my ear off either. I was looking around observing the salon while waiting for my color to set or when I was at the sink with my toner and I could see that most of the other customers were regulars and knew not only their stylist but most of the others as well and were wishing each other happy holidays, asking about the kids etc. I also watched the other stylists at work and they all seemed to know what they were doing whether they were giving someone a cute pixie cut or just a fantastic blowout. I was constantly offered more magazines and drinks by Anna the receptionist as well as any other stylist or apprentice that wasn't busy at the time. Everyone was very attentive and had a positive attitude despite that the salon was packed because it was the day before Christmas Eve. I honestly cannot say enough good things about the salon and the people in it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I was charged another $65 for the cut, wash, and dry when 1. Isn't washing always included? How can you dye someone's hair and not wash it out or cut it without washing it first? 2. I wouldn't say it was a cut so much as 5 minutes spent touching up my ends and 3. I like to be warned before I get my hair blown out that it will cost extra. But to be honest, it's OK because really all of that for $65 isn't bad, I loved the blowout (normally I hate when others blowout my hair and make it all swirly and curly but it was like J read my mind and did it the way I like), and for the time Joanne spent meticulously transforming my hair from brown roots with orange brass to luscious warm blonde it was totally worth it! I will definitely be back in 6-8 weeks for another round with Joanne! Do yourself a favor and book your next hair appt here!
